The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering offers three stand alone graduate certificates. These certificates are designed for practicing engineers who want to acquire state-of-the-art skills to compete in a booming industry. Students earn graduate level credit for each three credit-hour course, and upon successful completion of the program are awarded a graduate certificate in the area of specialty. Depending on the Graduate Certificate program selected, the number of credit hours required will range from 12-18 hours. Students may take up to two courses per semester. All credits earned in the graduate certificate program are fully transferable to the Master of Science programs. Upon admittance into the M.S. program a student can immediately matriculate into an existing Master of Science cohort program or curriculum.
The graduate certificate in Telecommunications Networks will address the fundamental principles of communication
systems including digital modulation, queueing theory, digital transmission, high-speed digital switching, and TCP/IP protocols. Courses will introduce communications techniques such as asynchronous transfer mode, SONET/SDH,
and IP networks.
Classes meet on weeknights or on Saturdays.
