Curriculum (12 Credit Hours)

Fall
STAT 183 Statistical Computing Packages
STAT 238 Survey Management

Spring
STAT 187 Introduction to Sampling
STAT 233 Questionnaire Design

Courses are not offered in the summer.

NOTE: Curriculum subject to change.

Two of the four courses are offered each semester on weekday evenings at The George Washington University's Alexandria Graduate Education Center. Typically, students take two courses each semester and complete the program in one year. Students may elect to take the courses over four semesters. Courses may be taken in any order; however, if you need to develop basic statistical skills, it is recommended that you take STAT 183 (Statistical Computing Packages) prior to taking STAT 187 (Introduction to Sampling). All 12 credits are required to receive the certificate.

Certificate Requirements

An application is required for admission to the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences. After gaining admission, students are required to enroll in at least one course each semester, and maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of B (3.0 on a 4.0 scale). Twelve credits are required for completion of the graduate certificate program in Survey Design and Data Analysis.

Early in the final semester students must submit an application for graduation from the certificate program.

Official academic policy governing degrees is stated in The George Washington Bulletin for Graduate Programs.

GW is certified to operate in Virginia by the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV).
