Admissions Information
Students must be admitted to the College of Professional Studies to qualify for the master's degree. Applicants must have:
- A bachelor's degree with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher from an accredited college or university
- Official results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), if
applicable
 Application Information
An Electronic Graduate Admissions application is available at http://www.gwu.edu/gradinfo.This online process allows you to submit your graduate application and send requests for letters of recommendation electronically.
If you choose to mail a printed application, please submit the following documents to The George Washington University, College of Professional Studies, Office of Admissions, 805 21st Street NW, Suite 301, Washington, DC 20052:
- A non-refundable application fee
- A completed and signed application form
- An official or certified transcript from each institution of higher education attended. A detailed evaluation is required for an international transcript showing all course work, grades, and proof of the earned degree from the non-U.S. institution attended. The evaluation should also determine whether the degree earned is equivalent to a U.S. degree.
- A statement of purpose (a 250-500 word essay outlining your academic objectives and career plans)
- A current resume
- Two professional or academic references, including one from a current supervisor, if possible
- Official results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), if applicable

Spring Admission: October 1

ADDITIONAL APPLICATION
Applicants for the master's degree or graduate certificate may also earn the master's degree or graduate certificate. This is easily accomplished at no additional fee, by submitting a separate application.
After you have been admitted to the Paralegal Studies master's degree or graduate certificate and registered for classes, you may follow these steps to also apply for the graduate certificate or master's degree in Paralegal Studies.
- Create a new account using an email address different from your previous one to create an additional application at www.gwu.edu/gradinfo
- Complete the online application form. Select the appropriate degree and field of study and enter the values for all the other required fields.
- In the education section, please include The George Washington University as one of your 'Previous schools attended.'
- Submit an updated resume and a new statement of purpose, which will probably be very much like the one you submitted to your former application.
- Do not resubmit transcripts, letters of recommendation, or any other documentation.
- Provide the names of your recommenders from the previous online application and when asked if the letters of recommendation will be submitted online, select the "No" option.
- The fee is waived for the current degree students, so indicate "check" when asked for payment.
Advanced Standing Request
Applicants to the master's degree program in Paralegal Studies may request advanced standing that satisfies the 12-credit core course sequence. Fax the completed Advanced Standing Request Form and required documents to the College of Professional Studies Admissions, 703-299-0295.
 Registration Information
All GW Near You registrations are conducted via GWeb. This system will enroll you in classes and automatically generate your schedule and bill.
