Admissions and Registration

Admissions Requirements

For admission to the HRD Weekend Master's Cohort Program, students must meet the following requirements of the Graduate School of Education and Human Development (GSEHD):

  • Bachelor's degree with a 2.75 G.P.A.
  • Graduate Record Examination (GRE), Miller Analogies Test (MAT) or Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) scores in the top 50th percentile
  • At least 2 years of work experience


Application Procedure

Apply now via the web: http://gsehd.gwu.edu/Applications. This online process allows you to submit your graduate application and electronically send requests for letters of recommendations.

Applicants to the GSEHD are required to submit:

  • Completed graduate application form with non-refundable application fee
  • Official transcripts from each college or university attended
  • Official GRE or MAT scores
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Statement of purpose (250-500 words)
  • Current resume

Apply now via the Web! An Electronic Graduate Admissions Application is now available through GW's website. This online process allows you to submit your graduate application and electronically send off requests for letters of recommendation.

The GW HRD Weekend Master's Program in Alexandria accepts students for the Spring semester cohort (January start) and accepts a limited number of students for the Summer semester (May start). Applicants are encouraged to submit their application materials by the October 1 deadline. For assistance during this process, please call the HRD program manager at 703-299-0294.

Transfer of Credit

With advisor approval, up to 12 credit hours of coursework may be accepted as transfer credit, including courses taken at GW as a non-degree student. Such coursework must normally have been completed within the past five years and must not have been applied toward another degree. A minimum grade of B must have been earned in each course.

All GW Near You registrations are conducted via GWeb. This system will enroll you in classes and automatically generate your schedule and bill.
