Program Format

Students complete 18 credit hours by attending classes on weeknights and/or weekends, including two courses of internship; one in a k-12 school setting. Post-Master's Certificate students will take classes with master's and education specialist students in Educational Leadership and Administration. Candidates must have three years of successful teaching experience upon completion of the program to qualify for licensure.

Certificate Requirements

Candidates must take a comprehensive examination upon completion of certificate coursework. Students will complete 18 credits of graduate work. A grade-point average of 3.0 is required for graduation.

Degree Applicability

Students choosing to continue in the Education Specialist (EdS) degree program after completing the certificate program would be required to apply for the EdS program and meet entrance requirements, which include an acceptable score on the MAT or GRE. Coursework taken as part of the certificate program will transfer into the EdS program, but no other coursework will be transferable into the EdS program. Students can apply for the EdS before completing 18 semester hours in the certificate program, but they still will not be allowed to transfer other coursework into the EdS.
