In areas as diverse as computer security, digital media, software engineering, and biomedical computing, the faculty, students, and graduates of the Department of Computer Science are achieving extraordinary successes and seeing the impact of their study, research, and efforts. The Department of Computer Science is the only non-government organization in the Washington, DC area to be designated a Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education, by the National Security Agency. Many of our students are recipients of numerous grants and awards.

Learning experiences are offered in the heart of the nation's capital and in the vibrant Northern Virginia area. The faculty, staff, students, and programs are interdisciplinary, multicultural, and international by design. Our faculty members conduct cutting-edge research in a number of areas and applications of computer science and collaborate with other researchers in academia, industry, and government. We emphasize creative solutions to real-world problems.
