COMMUNITY COUNSELING SERVICES CENTER

The Community Counseling Services Center at the GW Alexandria Graduate Education Center is the clinical training facility of the Graduate Program in School Counseling. The master’s degree program is offered by the Graduate School of Education and Human Development’s Department of Counseling/Human and Organizational Studies of The George Washington University.

Graduate Interns in the program, working under faculty supervision, provide counseling services to clients from surrounding communities. To ensure quality service to the public, professors review recordings of counseling sessions. Strict confidentiality is maintained.

INDIVIDUAL, PARENTING, AND GROUP COUNSELING

The Community Counseling Services Center provides counseling to individuals experiencing a variety of issues including, but not limited to:

  • Self Esteem and Identity
  • Career Development
  • Academic Problems
  • Parenting, Child, and Adolescent Issues
  • Stress Management
  • Loss and Bereavement
  • Divorce/Adjustment Issues

Parents and children are helped to understand and work through issues together and learn to communicate more effectively. The Community Counseling Services Center offers personal, family and social problem solving skills to meet the needs of the community.

APPOINTMENTS

Interested individuals may call (703) 299-9148 to set up an appointment for an initial interview. Clients are generally seen within 1-2 weeks of the initial screening. Day and evening hours are available. We welcome referrals from school counselors, mental health and employee assistance counselors, private practitioners, and other human service professionals. The current fee is $28.00 per individual session including initial interview. However, the Community Counseling Services Center offers an adjusted fee scale.
